︎INSPIRATION

This theme of World War II profoundly inspired me to create a chess set
with the squads are distinguished by each piece's form and design elements,
not just by color.

︎BACKGROUND STORY

Long ago, two ancient tribes thrived on an island near Korea. Each tribe had its unique design for crafting essential tools. One tribe preferred straight edges and flat planes, while the other tribe favored curved lines and surfaces.

These design elements held deep meaning for both tribes, preserved through generations. However, conflict arose during the construction of a bridge meant to unite them. Two individuals clashed over their tools, leading to violence, casualties, and a tribal war.

Through the ages, this tale has transcended cultures, taking on different forms. The chess piece we see today symbolizes this enduring narrative.

︎IDEATION SKETCHES

After the first digital sketch, many people including myself realized that they are not sharing any similarities,
which means each team does not seem like they are created by the same designer.

︎MODEL MAKING PROCESS

Used Maya for rendering pieces, converted mesh objects
into surface model and added few for designs to fit together.

︎FINAL MODEL (RENDERINGS)
